We achieve our goals through you. Funding your projects drives the engagement, development and innovation we want to foster.
The Orienteering Foundation welcomes applications for funding. We encourage those that meet our key objectives which are to help orienteering and promote the sport of orienteering through
- enhancement
- innovation
- alleviation of hardship.
We are also interested in
- increasing and sustaining participation in orienteering through all ages
- strengthening the links between orienteering and the community
- harnessing the potential of orienteering as a force for the good in society as a whole.

We review grant applications 4 times a year so there is always an opportunity to request funds when you need them. Of course we need information on the projects, and how you will use the money so we ask you to complete a grant application form (see below). Deadlines for submission are:
- 31 March
- 30 June
- 30 September
- 31 December
Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as they are ready and not wait for the deadline, as the Trustees could be looking at the applications and raising any points of clarification.
Trustees and Ambassadors can give advice to prospective applicants about their projects but a decision can only be made when a formal grant application has been submitted (see the Getting in Touch page to find your nearest Ambassador). A coordinating Trustee is then appointed who will seek the views of Trustees and liaise with the grant applicant if there are any queries. That Trustee then submits a summary of the application, further information made available and any initial Trustees’ views, together with a recommendation, for discussion at the forthcoming Board meeting.
