Yardleys School orienteering project
We are pleased to award a grant to Yardleys School, Birmingham to kick start an orienteering project at the school.
The school plan to introduce orienteering as part of a dynamic outdoor education program to their students and the wider community. This will include the development of an orienteering club in their enrichment program, an after-school orienteering club, and providing more practical navigation opportunities for Duke of Edinburgh groups (with which many students get involved). The school also plans to operate as a hub, inviting the wider community including local primary and secondary schools to engage with and take part in orienteering events within the school.
The grant from the Orienteering Foundation will go towards mapping, supply and installation of a permanent orienteering course around them, and staff training and CPD.
