Annual report 2019
Our annual report for 2019 is now available here.
The main highlights of 2019 were as follows:
- Neil Cameron continued as Chair, with Duncan Archer, Andrew Evans, Pauline Olivant, and Roger Scrutton as Trustees, with Malcolm Duncan stepping down as a Trustee during the year.
- For the third successive year we ran a campaign raising funds for the GB squad at the World Orienteering Championships, raising £2020 which was topped up by a further £948 from the Orienteering Foundation.
- Grants totalling £3420 were awarded for:
- Masterplan Adventure development work in Fife
- JROS junior coach development at the Lagganlia summer training camp
- Lagan Valley to enhance the Junior Home Internationals in Northern Ireland
- Steve Rush for hosting photography from major events
- Lawrence Jones for the Open Source Orienteering Timing System prototype
- Neil Bricknell for app store licensing costs for the Event-O app
- Charlotte Ward and Cecilie Andersen for the World Cup Final in China
- UK Elite O League provision of GPS tracking for elites at BOC and JK
- We made significant strides forward in the governance of the Foundation, including
- Adoption and review of the Charity Commission’s Code of Governance for Smaller Charities
- Transfer of our online donation system from BT mydonate to the Charities Aid Foundation
- Creation of an Information Pack for potential Ambassadors, and seeking to find Ambassadors in each Association (particularly those where we don't have a Trustee), and that an induction plan for new Trustees
- Trustee performance review
- Other activities included:
- Purchase of a new feather banner which has been on display at major events
- Production of flyers advertising our work which were distributed at JK 2019
- Continued promotion of the 1%er Legacy programme
- Commissioning another successful Lakes coaching day organised by Derek Allison
- Significant increase in following on our facebook and twitter accounts, and email newsletter
