ERYRI First Aid Training

We are pleased to make an award to ERYRI Orienteering Club to support attendance at a first aid training course.

In the last 18 months ERYRI has increased membership from about 10 to 60 members, and gone from 1-3 events per year to providing a weekly club session and at least one level D event per month, as well as hosting the Welsh Championship in March 2025. This has increased the visibility of orienteering across the region and enhanced participation in the sport.

However, their current first aider pool is struggling to cope with the increased workload and having a wider pool of first aiders who can share the load and ensure sufficient cover at events will help ensure this work can continue. The plan is to book a first aid course to upskill 10 club members who can provide first aid cover at club events. A particular consideration is that many of ERYRI's areas are on exposed, open areas that are remote from easy roadside access, needing first aiders with a greater level of training than more controlled park areas.

Good luck to all ERYRI's budding first aiders, and the continued growth of the club!
