Isle of Arran orienteering project
We are pleased to be contributing towards an orienteering initiative on the Isle of Arran!
AYROC are a small orienteering club who actively try to encourage the public to lead healthy, active, lives through the sport across the whole of Ayrshire, including the off shore islands. They are particularly encouraging grass roots orienteering activity.
One of the remoter parts of their area is the Isle of Arran. Club members have for several years been promoting orienteering among the island's schools, and one of their members has engendered enthusiasm by creating an after school orienteering group. This grant will help support their efforts and ease administration tasks at training activities by introducing electronic timing to the Island. The modest grant from us, combined with obtaining some second hand SPORTident cards from another group, and other other material and equipment from existing AYROC stores, means they can now put on electronically timed training activities.
