JHI 2027 ceilidh, medals and mementoes
We are pleased to award a grant to Cleveland Orienteering Klub (CLOK) to support their hosting of the 2027 Junior Home Internationals to go towards high‑quality medals, meaningful mementos, and the continuation of the event’s traditional ceilidh.
The Junior Home International (JHI) is the annual competition for M/W14-18 junior athletes from Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The event brings together around 100 of the most promising young orienteers for a weekend of racing, team spirit and shared experiences.
The grant will be used to continue to enhance the event with three long‑standing features of the JHI:
- Competition medals recognising podium performances across the individual and relay races
- Participant mementos celebrating involvement in this prestigious junior fixture
- The traditional ceilidh, a highlight of the weekend that brings athletes, coaches and officials together to socialise and strengthen connections across the home nations.
Supporting these elements helps maintain the unique character of the JHI and ensures the experience remains accessible and memorable for all participants. Without external support, organisers would have faced reducing the scope of these activities or increasing charges to teams and families - something the Orienteering Foundation is pleased to help avoid.
We look forward to seeing the 2027 JHI deliver another inspiring weekend of competition for junior athletes across the UK.
