Orienteering development in Fife

We are pleased to be supporting a project to help stimulate much needed development of orienteering in Fife, Scotland.

Fife sees very few orienteering events, despite proximity to Edinburgh and the Central Belt. The local club Kingdom of Fife Orienteers (KFO) are teaming up with Masterplan Adventure to fulfil a strong desire to increase participation by staging more orienteering events through 2019.

In particular, for Scottish Spring and Sprint Scotland they are producing new maps of  Falkland, Culross and Rosyth, and updating and extending the maps of Tentsmuir South and Falkland Estate (which is also a new area for orienteering).  The Orienteering Foundation's funding will help towards those mapping projects, maps which will provide an invaluable resource for KFO to stage more events in future, providing more orienteering opportunities and growing their membership.

KFO are also establishing and developing links with the local community - for example Culross Community Council, Falkirk Community Council and the National Trust in Falkland - to help promote the local events.
