There is very little funding available to enable elite orienteers to attend major international competitions and athletes generally have to find their own funding to be able to compete. Saxons committee members feel that for orienteering to continue and develop as a sport in the UK, we need the positive impact and high visibility of our athletes competing and succeeding on the international stage. We therefore made a donation from club funds to the Orienteering Foundation for this purpose.

We’re delighted by this donation and the recognition of the Foundation’s work it implies. We will, as we always do, work hard to use it effectively.
