We're gathering thoughts on how to create a more welcoming, less stressful volunteering environment for everyone. If you've got ideas or thoughts to share, please take a moment to fill out our survey. It takes around 20 minutes but your input can make a BIG difference!
We all know that orienteering is highly dependent on volunteers but it seems that no-one knows how much time is contributed by volunteers in different roles, what issues are faced by our volunteers (which vary by role), the reasons why some orienteers do or don't volunteer, etc.
As part of a wider project, the Orienteering Foundation has announced a survey of volunteering in orienteering to gather data and inform future actions to help recruit, train and develop our volunteers and make their jobs easier and more enjoyable.
A useful by-product of the survey will be data for each club if sufficient members do the survey, so clubs will have a strong reason for encouraging all their members to complete it (whether members of British Orienteering or not).
The survey has the full support of British Orienteering and we encourage all UK orienteers (whether currently volunteering or not) to complete it. The survey can be found here.
