Annual report 2024
Our annual report for 2024 is now available here.
The main highlights of 2024 were as follows:
- The board and administration:
- Andrew Evans continued as chair of the trustees
- The trustees remained the same: Anne Edwards, John Mather, Martin Ward, Neil Cameron, Pauline Olivant and Roger Scrutton
- All the trustees are also ambassadors for their respective regions, in addition to Alun Jones (South Central), Caroline MacKenzie (North East), Ian Gamlen (West Midlands), Lyn West (East Anglia), Philip Jenkins (Wales) and Wilbert Hollinger (Northern Ireland) continued as ambassadors. We continue to have strong representation via trustees and/or ambassadors in all home nations and English regions of the UK.
- Grants were awarded for projects across the key objectives of the Orienteering Foundation:
- Enhancement
- JROS to support junior coaches at Lagganlia
- WCOC for Peter Palmers Junior Team Relay
- Innovation
- New Club Development Officers for INT, CLYDE and OD
- Continuing to fund CDOs for CLOK, DVO, FVO, LOC, Moravian and SBOC
- Belvoir Community and Cricket Trust orienteering festival
- LVO junior and families project
- Hardship
- One individual attending the European Youth Orienteering Championships (EYOC)
- Enhancement
- Other activities:
- Coaching Day – held in the Lake District
- Newcomer retention group - continued development of a template for newcomer posters
- Volunteering - commenced thinktank project
- Publicity - four articles published in Compass Sport magazine (as well as continued presence on social media and email newsletters)
- Supported WOC in Edinburgh by covering printing of the WOC Tour programme
- Notable donations income from:
- MDOC from event surpluses
- Saxons part of event income at request of the landowner
- JK and BOC 2024 participant donations
