Get Involved

Not all gifts to the Foundation are financial.  You can help in other ways too, for example as a trustee or part of our Foundation Network.  Read on to find out how.

  • As a Trustee on the Board: the Board helps manage the affairs and strategic direction of the Orienteering Foundation, and decides on grant applications.  We aim for geographical representation across the country and are currently looking for additional representation in the North West / Lake District.  Most of the business is conducted electronically, with one or two face-to-face meetings per year. The role would also provide good personal development for anyone who would like experience as a Company Director or Trustee.
  • As part of our Foundation Network, which is a network of supporters who act as local contacts to spread the word about the Orienteering Foundation and its work, ensuring people know who we are and what we do.  You can be based anywhere, and full briefing and support will be provided.

Both are opportunities to give something back to the sport and enjoy seeing the benefits gained by recipients of grants.  If you are interested in either of these roles, please contact the chair.

Foundation Network – does that mean I have to ask people for money?

The primary role of the Foundation Network is to promote the work of the Foundation across the UK, so more people know about what we do.  That is much more about briefing your club about our latest projects, promoting the process of how to apply for grants and being a visible face of the Foundation for anyone who wants to talk about our work.  And if someone wants to support us financially, giving them some advice on how that might be achieved or introducing them to a local Board member for a longer discussion on how they might like to help.
