ORIENTEERING FOUNDATION

LOC publicity officer

Lakeland Orienteering Club (LOC) is seeking a publicity officer.

LOC was one of the first clubs to be supported by the Orienteering Foundation in using the services of a paid Club Development Officer back in 2022. See Club Development for more background on clubs that have benefited in this way. Since then they have had great success in staging family friendly events and activities, and growing the number of juniors and families in the club. You can find out more about what they have been up to in the end of 2024 report.

Kath Savage has been the CDO for most of that time, but following three years of OF funding she has decided it is time to move on to other things. She has built the role to the point where many of the event and activity based initiatives can be absorbed into the general operation of the club run by volunteers. However, the club has identified the need to still have a part-time paid Publicity Officer to advertise their events to a range of audiences. They are seeking someone who is enthusiastic about promoting orienteering and who possesses the skills to maintain a positive public image, attract new members and keep current members engaged.

The role is expected to be an average of 5 hours per week at £20/hour. For more details on the post and how to apply, please see the LOC website.
