We are proud to be supporting a dedicated fundraising campaign to power the GBR team to the World Orienteering Championships 2019 in Norway.

Our national team does a great job raising the profile of orienteering in the UK as a serious sport, promoting British orienteering abroad, and inspiring juniors who are the stars of the future. Competing at WOC isn't just about the competition itself - athletes need to attend World Cup events for ranking points, and test races in Norway to get team selection, as well as additional training camps, and they fund a significant part of their own travel, transport and accommodation when representing GBR. Many are also juggling international level orienteering alongside full time jobs or academic studies.

For the last two years we at the Orienteering Foundation have supported hugely successful campaigns to fuel the GBR team to WOC 2017 in Estonia and WOC 2018 in Latvia, raising over £18,000 between the two years. The money was distributed equally amongst the team members to help cover their costs to prepare for and compete at WOC. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed - your support made a real difference to the athletes.

This year we have launched another campaign, recognising the continued expense of competing at the elite level. Click the button below to visit our WOC 2019 fundraising page on the Charities Aid Foundation website. All donations made via that page up to the target of £5,000 will be granted by the Orienteering Foundation to reduce the level of GBR athlete personal expenses for WOC 2019.

You can follow the team's preparation for WOC, and news during the WOC week itself, on the British Orienteering website, at the GBR team supporters website On The Red Line, and the WOC 2019 event website.
