Annual report 2020
Our annual report for 2020 is now available here.
The main highlights of 2020 were as follows:
- Neil Cameron continued as Chair, with Duncan Archer, Andrew Evans, Pauline Olivant, and Roger Scrutton continuing as Trustees. Martin Ward joined as a new Trustee in March (here) and Georgia Jones joined in December (here).
- Wilbert Hollinger and Lyn West were welcomed as Ambassadors (here)
- Grants were awarded for the following projects:
- The Run In podcast (here)
- Commission of a Permanent Orienteering Course video (here)
- Event O App store hosting (here)
- Lochaber schools development project ahead of the Scottish 6 Days in 2021 (here)
- ESOC MapRun series disabled participants (here)
- JROS coach development at Lagganlia (here)
- LOC coach development project (here)
- CLOK partner project to contract the services a Club Development Officer (here)
- We saw a continued growth in donations, including a generous donation from Wye Valley Orienteers that wound up (here)
- During the year, the Trustees took a number of actions to continue to improve the governance:
- Contingency plans for absence of a Trustee or the Administrator
- Completed our review of the Charity Commission’s Code of Governance (here)
- Trustees and Board performance review
- Induction plan for new Trustees
- Other activities included:
- Attendance and presentation at the Development Conference in January
- Bookmark printed and distributed in Compass Sport magazine
- Advert in the JROS calendar
- Preparation to a display at BOC, although this was subsequently cancelled
- Investigation into supporting further projects with external funding
- Cancellation of our insurance policy as British Orienteering are able to include our requirements in their policy, at no cost to us
- Review of Charity Giving websites to improve the effectiveness of fund raising campaigns
