Annual report 2022
Our annual report for 2022 is now available here.
The main highlights of 2022 were as follows:
- The board and administration:
- Andrew Evans continued as chair of the trustees
- Andrew Evans, Pauline Olivant, Roger Scrutton, Martin Ward and Georgia Jones continued as trustees
- Georgia Jones stepped down as a trustee (here), and Anne Edwards and John Mather joined as trustees (here)
- All the trustees are also ambassadors for their respective regions, in addition to Duncan Archer, Wilbert Hollinger, Lyn West and Ian Gamlen continued as ambassadors
- Alun Jones joined as an ambassador for south central (here)
- Grants were awarded for the following projects:
- Junior Regional Orienteering Squads (JROS) for coach development at Lagganlia and a training camp in the Czech Republic (here)
- Club Development Officers (CDOs) for two further clubs – Lakeland Orienteering Club (here) and Swansea Bay Orienteering Club (here)
- Roxburgh Reivers (RR) towards their school project (here)
- An individual for selection for EYOC and JWOC (here)
- Lagan Valley Orienteers (LVO) for a UKCC level 2 course (here)
- British Orienteering towards athletes expenses to attend the rescheduled JWOC in Portugal (here)
- Other activities:

During the year, the Trustees took a number of actions to continue to improve the governance:
- Consolidated all our policies, practices and regulations into one internal document which will be reviewed annually.
- This included reviewing the Risk Register and adopting a new Investment Policy.
- Agreed to measure impact and effectiveness of the Foundation on the sport via a postgraduate project at Edinburgh University.
- Agreed to review our Safeguarding policy and ensure it was a condition on our application form for all grant applicants to comply with.
