Annual report 2023
Our annual report for 2023 is now available here.
The main highlights of 2023 were as follows:
- The board and administration:
- Andrew Evans continued as chair of the trustees
- The trustees remained the same: Anne Edwards, John Mather, Martin Ward, Neil Cameron, Pauline Olivant and Roger Scrutton
- All the trustees are also ambassadors for their respective regions, in addition to Alun Jones (South Central), Wilbert Hollinger (Northern Ireland), Lyn West (East Anglia) and Ian Gamlen (West Midlands) continued as ambassadors, and were joined by Caroline MacKenzie (North East), Philip Jenkins (Wales) (see article here). We are pleased to say we now have representation via trustees and/or ambassadors in all home nations and English regions of the UK for the first time ever.
- Grants were awarded for the following projects:
- Alasdair Pedley attending the IOF Young Leaders Academy (award and report)
- Freddie Carcas attending the European Championships (award and report).
- Grants for Club Development Officers (CDOs) in DVO, MOR, SELOC as well as continuing to fund those posts in CLOK and SBOC. See the club development page.
- Stirling University Orienteering Club for coaching (award)
- Yardley’s School in the West Midlands for the development of orienteering (award)
- British Orienteering for a coach education programme (award)
- Other activities:
- Coaching Day – held in the Lake District (report)
- Newcomer retention group - continued to develop a template for newcomer posters
- Instagram - launched our new Instagram account with following the JROS Lagganlia tour (here)
- Three articles published in Compass Sport on: legacies, donations and Racesignup donations
- Bought feather banners to take to events to publicise the Foundation.
