Donations in memory of Dave Caudwell raise £2500
Dave Caudwell, formerly Northern Navigators, passed away on 1st August 2023. We are grateful to report that £2500 has been raised for the Orienteering Foundation from donations by his family and those who knew him.
British Sprint/Middle donations raise £500
Donations made by entrants to the British Middle and Sprint Championships raised over £300, and the Northern Ireland Orienteering Associations has topped this up to £500.
JROS coaching course report
Earlier this year we awarded a grant to support young coaches at the Junior Regional Orienteering Squads (JROS) level 2 coaching course this summer. A total of 5 coaches were supported to attend, read on for a report of the course from co-organiser Iain Harding, and comments from some of the trainee coaches.
Scottish 6 Days physio raises £900
Last weekend we announced that Claire Houston would be providing physio services at the Scottish 6 Days, raising funds for the Orienteering Foundation - see the original news post here which includes more background on Claire and her practice. We are delighted to announce that she raised £900 from the generosity of orienteers availing themselves of her services. Thankyou very much to everyone who donated, and to Claire for giving up her time and services.

We are delighted to report that Claire Houston is providing physio services at the Scottish 6 Days this week, and donating proceeds after expenses to the Orienteering Foundation.
Volunteer Effort ProjectSeeking expressions of interest
The Orienteering Foundation is sponsoring a review of what we've termed "volunteer effort". We believe that there is scope to provide best practice to clubs based on research into volunteering approaches. We are currently seeking expressions of interest to form a working group to drive this Volunteer Effort Project over the coming months.

IOF Young Leaders Academy report
Earlier this year we gave a grant to Alasdair Pedley to attend the IOF Young Leaders Academy (see news article). He has now attended and come back full of great ideas and contacts across the orienteering community. You can read his report on his own website here.
